All it illustrates is people like watching nonsense shit on tv. People use to watch TV to engage with the world, it was their source of information and stimulation. These days people are hooked up to social media and know everything instantly and are constantly engaged, therefore they relish the chance to mong out, switch off and watch this kind of shit.
By the same logic not everyone watching university challenge or mastermind is a genius. Its all pretty obvious.
